Cleaning Tips
Mattress: Mix baking soda with 1 TBS of fabric softener and spread on mattress every one or two months. Leave on an hour and vacuum off. Kills dust mites and freshens the mattress.
How to Clean Pillows. Wash pillows on the hottest setting with a cup of bleach. Always does the trick. This way, you don't have to do the "smell" check! I also like my pillows to smell fresh, so add fabric softener to the washer and dry with a sheet. Also helps get rid of static in your hair on those dry winter months!
Add a cup of baking soda to the toilet, leave it for an hour, and then flush. It will clean the toilet and absorb the odor.
How to Clean Your Plastic Containers 1. Fill almost to the top with water and a squirt of dish soap 2. Add 1/4 cup of bleach 3. Microwave the container for 40 seconds, or until the solution is boiling 4. Allow to rest until the water is lukewarm 5. Wash out your container and it is as good as new!
Towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and 1cup vinegar, then a 2nd time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. Works like a charm!
Unblock your drains without pouring harmful pollutants into the water system by pouring down 1 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of baking soda mixed together, followed by a kettle of boiling water. Can also use baking soda and white vinegar and boiling water.
Grease stains: Chalk will remove grease stains from clothes. Simply rub the stain with chalk, then toss in the wash as normal.
